Ruth has had an extensive career in English and Spanish language media, with a wide range of roles and projects to her name.
In film, she played the role of Elena Chavez, the mother of America Chavez, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", directed by Sam Raimi. This marks the second time she has worked with Raimi, following her role in the 2009 horror film "Drag Me to Hell".
On television, Ruth starred in the critically acclaimed Showtime series "Resurrection Blvd.", and recurred in the popular teen drama "Beverly Hills 90210". She has also been directed by the renowned Franco Zeffirelli at Rome's Cinecittá Studios.
In addition to her live-action work, Ruth has also lent her voice to several animated projects, including Disney/Pixar's "Cars on the Road" for Disney+, and the Oscar-winning "Coco", directed by Lee Unkrich. Her other voice credits include "Los Campeones de la Lucha Libre", a starring role in the animated feature, as well as "Elena of Avalor", a recurring role in the Disney series.
Ruth's video game credits include "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare", "Sly Cooper 3", and "Dead Rising 3".
On stage, Ruth has played lead roles at several top equity houses, including the Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre, South Coast Repertory, The Goodman Theatre, The La Jolla Playhouse, The Denver Theatre Center, the Cincinnati Playhouse, and the Long Beach Opera.
As a writer, Ruth is a member of the Writers Guild of America, West, and was featured on the cover of the organization's magazine "Written By" for being the first writer to join the union via her work in digital media. She has also received special recognition from the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, the Breakthrough in Entertainment Industry recognition from California Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, and the NAMIC Legacy Award.
