Born and raised in Oakland, California, Salim's creative journey began with the critically acclaimed film Drylongso (1999),which premiered at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival and Berlin Film Festival. This early success paved the way for his transition to television, where he joined the staff of Showtime's award-winning drama "Soulfood" as a writer.
Salim's rapid ascent to prominence was characterized by his promotion to series Executive Producer, in addition to directing and writing several episodes. His impressive credentials also include directing and writing episodes for other notable TV series, such as UPN's "Girlfriends", CW's/BET's "The Game", and BET's "Being Mary Jane".
