Salme, an Australian actor born in Tehran, began her life in Australia at the tender age of four when her family relocated from their native Iran. She spent her childhood on the Central Coast of New South Wales, where her early years laid the foundation for her future endeavors.
While studying Biotechnology at the University of Newcastle, Salme discovered her passion for acting, which ultimately led her to leave her studies and pursue a degree in performing arts at the prestigious Australian Academy of Dramatic Art (AADA) in Sydney.
Salme's first television appearance was on the hit police drama series 'Rush' opposite Rodger Corser and Catherine McClements. Since then, she has worked on numerous major Australian television shows, including the popular series 'Winners & Losers', Australia's longest-running drama series 'Neighbours', and the 2024 Canneseries-nominated urban drama series 'Swift Street'.
In addition to her television work, Salme has also made notable appearances in film, including the 2017 LA Film Festival premiere 'Izzy Gets the F*ck Across Town' alongside MacKenzie Davis, and the 2019 sci-fi thriller 'The Mandela Effect' directed by David Guy Levy.
Salme's most recent projects include playing the role of Detective Majano in the 2021 Netflix crime thriller series 'Clickbait', and Anousha in 'Mystery Road: Origin', which won the 2022 AACTA Awards for Best Drama Series and the 2023 Equity Ensemble Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
Her stage credits include starring as Marjan in the 2024 Melbourne Theatre Company's production of Sanaz Toossi's Pulitzer-winning play 'English', which received rave reviews in both Melbourne and Canberra.
Salme is a polyglot, speaking Farsi and Spanish, and is also an accomplished martial artist, training in Muay Thai and holding a black belt in Aikido. Her martial arts skills extend to the use of the jo and bokken.
