Tirgu Mures, alternatively known as Marosvásárhely, serves as the administrative center of Mures County, situated in the north-central region of Romania. As of the year 2011, the city boasted a population of 127,849 inhabitants, ranking it as the 16th largest urban center within Romania's borders.
At the time of his birth, the county, and consequently the city itself, was under the jurisdiction of Hungary. However, following the tumultuous events of World War II, the city came under the supervision of Romanian authorities, marking a significant shift in its political allegiance.
