Elaine Sterling, a stunning blonde, was born on May 18, 1928, and spent her formative years in St. Louis before embarking on a career as a face and hand model for cosmetic advertisements.
As her fame grew, she relocated to New York City before ultimately making the move to Hollywood, where she secured an MGM contract. Under her real name, she appeared in several big-budget musical pictures, including notable roles in Easter Parade (1948) and Neptune's Daughter (1949). However, she found limited opportunities for advancement within the studio.
Seeking new challenges, Elaine left MGM and adopted the stage name Sara Shane, signing a one-year contract with Universal-International. During this period, she was featured in films such as Sign of the Pagan (1954) and Magnificent Obsession (1954),and she married William Hollingsworth. The couple remained together for eight years before divorcing in 1957.
After leaving Universal-International, Elaine's roles began to expand, and she appeared in notable films like Three Bad Sisters (1956),The King and Four Queens (1956),and Affair in Havana (1957). She then transitioned to television, working on a range of programs, including Dragnet (1951),Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955),The Outer Limits (1963),and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1964).
Elaine's most notable film role came when she was cast as the Jane-like character opposite Gordon Scott's Tarzan in Tarzan's Greatest Adventure (1959),a standout entry in the Tarzan series.
As she grew older, Elaine began to feel disconnected from the fast-paced world of Hollywood and eventually retired from the entertainment industry in her late 30s. She turned her attention to writing and began studying pharmaceuticals, eventually publishing two books: the work of fiction "Zulma" and the non-fiction book "Take Control of Your Health and Escape the Sickness Industry".
Seeking a fresh start, Elaine relocated to Australia, where she still resides on her 5-acre property.
