Sarah Jefferson Carter is a multifaceted creative force, distinguished as a writer, director, storyteller, and co-founder of Rhythm & Noise Productions. Her extensive experience in the film industry has allowed her to hone her skills in various aspects of filmmaking, ultimately finding her niche in writing and directing independent films that showcase black women in the Fantasy and Sci-Fi genre.
Throughout her career, Sarah has penned three feature-length scripts, including "Of Thistles & Rye", a historical drama that garnered significant recognition, being a quarter-finalist in the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition in 2017. Additionally, she has produced an animatic trailer and a short film, "Black Out", for which she served as both writer and director.
Currently, Sarah is immersed in post-production for a short-form fantasy web series, "Queendom Come", a cross-world/epic fantasy series that follows Sariya, a young black woman, as she navigates the challenges of building the typical American dream life, only to discover that she is far from ordinary. The series explores an otherworldly reality and is slated to premiere at industry festivals starting in the spring of 2023.
With a passion for bringing black fantasy stories to life, Sarah is constantly seeking innovative ways to spin captivating tales. Her journey, however, extends beyond mere storytelling, as she is committed to making a lasting impact. Sarah's mission is to create a world where women of color are the protagonists of their own genre tales, using her art to showcase the multidimensionality and diversity of black culture, and inspiring people of all races to see themselves in new, powerful ways.
