Biography

Sarah Thomson, a gifted and accomplished New Zealand actress, came into the world on June 17, 1985, commencing a life that would be filled with creative expression and dedication to her craft. Following the completion of her high school education at the esteemed Glendowie College, Sarah made the decision to relocate to Christchurch, a city renowned for its vibrant cultural scene, in order to pursue a role in the film "Meet Me in Miami", which was initially titled "My Gardener". Despite her enthusiasm and aspirations, Sarah's experiences during this period were marked by disappointment and disillusionment, ultimately leading her to reevaluate her priorities and return to her hometown of Auckland, where she could focus on nurturing her relationships with friends and family.

Thomson's initial reluctance to return to the stage was eventually overridden by her passion for performing, leading her to become an integral part of The University of Auckland's long-standing Summer Shakespeare tradition. Although she didn't initially attend the university, she later enrolled to pursue a diverse range of academic interests, including Film, Television, Media Studies, and Theatre Studies.

During her time at the university, Thomson had the opportunity to hone her craft by filming her role in the production "Living the Dream". She also demonstrated her commitment to the university's theatrical community by serving on the board of the University Theatre Company. In addition, she further developed her writing skills by contributing to the university's weekly student publication, Craccum.

In the year 2006, Thomson was handpicked to participate in the esteemed Auckland theatre company, Silo Theatre's, innovative new talent project, aptly titled The Ensemble Project. This prestigious endeavour brought together a diverse group of twelve individuals, including the talented Barnie Duncan and Bonnie Soper, all of whom were meticulously prepared for a season of two captivating plays.

One of these productions was a bold and daring interpretation of the classic John Ford play, "Tis Pity She's a Whore", expertly directed by the renowned Michael Hurst. The other was a unique and imaginative company devised piece, cleverly titled "Based On Auckland", skillfully led by the accomplished director Oliver Driver.

Both of these remarkable works were showcased during the 2008 Auckland Festival, providing a platform for Thomson and his fellow ensemble members to showcase their exceptional talents and artistic abilities.

Thomson, a talented actress, actress, and performer, gained widespread recognition for her impressive portrayal of the complex and multifaceted character of Tracey Morrison, an undercover policewoman and nurse, on New Zealand's longest-running soap opera, Shortland Street, a television program that has been a staple of New Zealand entertainment for many years, from 2007 to 2011.

In addition to her work on Shortland Street, Thomson has also established herself as a versatile and creative individual, as she currently writes and performs for The Moe Show, a popular children's puppet television program that is loved by young audiences and parents alike.
