Satya Bhabha is a multifaceted creative force, exceling as a director, writer, and performer whose work has garnered widespread recognition at esteemed festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, South by Southwest, Palm Springs International Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, and OutFest.
As a director, Satya has recently helmed series for Apple, Showtime, Amazon, Max, and Peacock, while also acting in the popular Netflix series "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off". He has successfully developed and sold original projects to Amazon and Condé Nast.
Satya's acting credits are impressive, with notable roles including the lead character Saleem Sinai in the adaptation of Salman Rushdie's "Midnight's Children", Matthew Patel in "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World", and the recurring character Shivrang in the television show "New Girl". He has also recurred on the Wachowskis' "Sense8" and the Peabody Award-winning "Key & Peele". In addition, Satya has extensive experience in theatre, having performed at renowned venues such as The Public Theatre, The Signature Theatre, Shakespeare's Globe in London, and the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles.
Furthermore, Satya has created award-winning immersive theatre experiences, including the 48-hour luxury travel adventure "The Headlands Gamble". He has toured his original live performance work throughout Europe and the USA and serves as the artistic director of the Los Angeles-based theatre company Public Assembly.
Satya's academic background includes a degree from Yale University, where he was awarded the prestigious Sudler Prize for the arts. A talented musician, Satya has been playing the cello since childhood and has performed around the world in symphonies, chamber ensembles, and bands. He was a member of the LA-based band He's My Brother She's My Sister. Satya has been married to his husband since 2016.
