At a remarkably young age, Meier's passion for drawing and painting became an all-consuming obsession, unbeknownst to his parents. He took the initiative to reach out to the esteemed founding fathers of Walt Disney Animation, Ollie Johnson, Frank Thomas, and Ward Kimball, and began a spirited correspondence that lasted for over a decade. Through his love of character expressed on the page, Meier received guidance from the Disney veterans to improve his skills, with advice that ultimately led him to take up acting and join the local stage in the Boston Community.
As his training continued, Meier pursued higher education in Film, Theater, and Dance at Ithaca College, and then abroad in London and New York City. He expanded his expertise by working in production alongside acting, joining the Directors Guild of America, and subsequently line-producing the indie feature, In My Pocket. Meier maintained a strong presence in the industry, working alongside his mentor and business partner Glen Trotiner, and contributing to various projects, including The Briefcase, Bella, Bernard and Doris, Union Square, and King of Herrings, which won the 2013 Audience Award at the New Orleans Film Festival.
Meier's professional trajectory took another significant turn when he joined Illusion Industries Inc., a special makeup effects and independent production company, as their Studio Liaison and Head of Physical Production, under the title of Executive Vice President/Staff Line Producer. During his tenure, he oversaw builds on various TV shows, such as Sons of Anarchy and Southland, as well as films like Smurfs 1 & 2, Transformers 3, The East, Devil's Pass, Fright Night 2, The Iceman, Stalingrad, and G.I. Joe 2. Meier continued to manage production, financing, delivery, and distribution on all of Illusion's titles.
Eventually, Meier left Illusion to return to his first love of being on set with the cast and crew. He collaborated with Josh Waller, Elijah Wood, Leigh Whannell, and Ian Brennan on the feature film Cooties, which became an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival and was later sold to Lionsgate for a domestic theatrical release. Meier then worked with Trevor Macy under Intrepid Pictures on The Bye Bye Man and joined the team at Blumhouse, led by Jason Blum and Jeanette Volturno, where he executive produced Visions, starring Isla Fisher, Jim Parsons, and Eva Longoria, as well as the Akiva Goldsman-directed supernatural thriller, Stephanie, and the box office hit Happy Death Day, alongside Christopher Landon.
In 2017, Meier began working with Amblin Partners, serving as Executive Producer on their features, including The Turning, starring Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard, A Dog's Journey, directed by Gail Mancuso and starring Dennis Quaid, the LA unit of Finch, starring Tom Hanks, and Easter Sunday, starring Jo Koy. His most recent project is Amblin's first collaboration with Netflix, Carry On, starring Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.
