Shalita Grant, a talented actress, was born and raised in Petersburg, Virginia. She attended the Baltimore School for the Arts in Maryland, where she was a YoungArts Winner in Theater and a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. At the tender age of 17, she received a prestigious scholarship to attend the prestigious Juilliard School, graduating with a B.F.A. in Drama in 2010.
Grant's early career was marked by recurring and guest roles on popular television shows, including NCIS: New Orleans, The Good Wife, Battle Creek, Bones, and Melissa & Joey. She also appeared in several films, including Empire Corner, Invisible, and the Oscar-nominated documentary Rehearsing a Dream.
On stage, Grant has showcased her impressive range in productions such as "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" at the Lincoln Center, "The Philanderer" at the Pearl Theatre Company, "Measure for Measure", "The Winter's Tale", and "Merchant of Venice" at the Public Theater. Her standout performance in "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" earned her a Tony Award nomination for Featured Actress in a Play and a Theatre World Award for Outstanding Broadway Debut in 2013.
After her Tony Award nomination, Grant relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television. She has spoken candidly about her struggles in auditioning, recalling a grueling process that involved 54 auditions within one year. At one point, she turned to bartending to make ends meet before landing a series of guest star roles and eventually, a series regular position. Today, Grant splits her time between New Orleans, Louisiana, where NCIS: New Orleans is filmed, and Los Angeles, California.
