Person Biography:
Shashi Kapoor is a renowned Indian actor who has appeared in over 160 films, including 12 English and 148 Hindi productions. He is the youngest son of Prithviraj Kapoor, a prominent actor and founder of Prithvi Theatres. Shashi began his acting career at the age of four, performing on stage and in films alongside his father's acting troupe. He made his solo leading man debut in Yash Chopra's Dharmputra (1961) and went on to work in both mainstream popular Hindi cinema and art films.
Shashi is known for his versatility, having worked in a range of genres and roles. He has appeared in films with prominent actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, and Nanda, and has also directed a few films, including the Soviet Union co-production Ajooba (1991). He has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for Deewaar (1975) and two Filmfare Best Movie Awards for his work as producer and star of Junoon (1979) and Kalyug (1981).
Shashi is married to Jennifer Kendal, an English actress, and they have three children: Kunal, Karan, and Sanjana. After his wife's passing in 1984, Shashi's life took a different turn, and he began taking on fewer roles in films, shifting his focus to character roles. He was presented with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010, recognizing his contributions to Indian cinema.
