Shirley MacLaine was born Shirley MacLean Beaty on April 24, 1934, in Richmond, Virginia, to Kathlyn Corinne (MacLean),a drama teacher from Nova Scotia, Canada, and Ira Owens Beaty, a professor of psychology and real estate agent, from Virginia.
