Simon Yin is a multi-talented individual from Atlanta, Georgia, who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry as a director, actor, and TV host. With his production company, Mustard, Simon has directed and produced a wide range of projects, including feature films, television shows, commercials, music videos, and corporate films.
Simon's feature film directorial debut was with the financial thriller "Supercapitalist" in 2012, which was filmed in New York, Hong Kong, and Macau and starred Linus Roache, Kenneth Tsang, and Richard Ng. Since then, he has been heavily involved in directing television shows for various networks, including AXN, Discovery Channel, FOX, FOX Sports, NBC/Universal, and DIVA. Some of his notable works include the award-winning series "Freedom Riders Asia" with Charley Boorman, "Rio Magic" with Cyril Takayama, and "Asia's Got Talent," the biggest talent show in the world.
In addition to his work behind the camera, Simon has also had a successful career as a TV host. He started as a TV host on Turner Networks in Atlanta and later became an MTV VJ in New York. In Asia, he has hosted his own television programs on FOX, Starworld, Channel V, and most recently, is the ongoing host of History Channel's #1 show, "Hidden Cities Extreme," which was nominated for the Best Entertainment Programme and Best Lifestyle Programme at the 19th Annual Asian Television Awards. Simon was also nominated and won the award for Best Entertainment Host/Presenter.
On the big screen, Simon has portrayed a wide range of characters, from the sly and cunning eunuch in Roger Corman's "Hell's Haunted Palace" to the child molesting Thai Thug in the French auctioneer "Borderland." He has also appeared in Universal's kung fu action film "Man with the Iron Fists 2" and will make his world premiere at TIFF 2016 in the film "Birth of the Dragon," where he plays Vinnie Wei, one of Bruce Lee's finest students.
In his free time, Simon enjoys writing, watching movies, riding motorcycles, playing basketball, kissing girls, buying camera gear, playing PS4, reading books, taking baths, buying Air Jordans for his nephew, creating chaos, daydreaming, living in the moment, and eating hot pot.
