Sok Visal's journey began as a graffiti artist and rapper, with a passion for music that would eventually lead him to establish Cambodia's first hip hop and alternative music record label. He sharpened his skills, becoming an executive film producer and a creative force to be reckoned with.
Visal's interests were initially sparked by the recognition of Cambodia's immense cultural loss during the Khmer Rouge era. With an estimated 2 million lives lost and countless masters of their craft perished, Visal made it his mission to contribute to the rebuilding of Cambodia's new "Golden Era".
After his parents fled Cambodia to France in 1975 to escape the Khmer Rouge regime, Visal returned to Cambodia in 1993. During this formative period, he experienced a series of personal and professional losses and successes, each lesson propelling him further and cultivating his creative edge and expertise.
Throughout his career, Visal has achieved numerous notable accomplishments, including being a father of three, an art and creative director, music producer, and founder of KlapYaHandz record label. He has also worked as an A&R, film producer, and founder of 802 Films, with five feature films on his credits. Additionally, he has served as a creative events and festival director, line producer, and has supported multiple international productions.
Standing on the foundation of his 29 years of experience, awards, and accolades, musical endeavors, film projects, commercial work, and countless artistic and professional relationships, Visal is now poised to embark on the next 29 creative years of his life. This new era marks Visal's renewed focus and personal commitment to re-imagining and cultivating his continued legacy, forever engraining his mark and contribution to his vision of a Cambodia's 3rd Golden Age.
