Sophia Crawford, a talented individual, was born in Hammersmith, London, as one of a set of triplets. In 1986, she embarked on a remarkable journey, traveling overland from London to India by bus. After spending time in India and Nepal, Sophia relocated to Thailand, where she initiated her acting career.
Initially, she worked as an editorial model and extra in American productions, such as Kickboxer (1989) and Around the World in 80 Days (2004). Following collaborations with various Hong Kong crews, Sophia decided it was time to explore the Hong Kong film industry. She visited numerous studios, seeking work opportunities. Her first role was in New Kid in Town (1990),where the director requested her to perform fight scenes. Although she underestimated the task and was subsequently killed off due to her ineptitude, Sophia was not deterred. Instead, she dedicated the next five years to studying martial arts and stunts with prominent professionals in the field.
Sophia co-starred in over thirty films and became the first Western woman to join an Asian stunt team. In 1993, she relocated to the United States and has since appeared in hundreds of movies and television shows, including Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993) and WMAC Masters (1995). Notably, she served as Sarah Michelle Gellar's stunt double on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) for four years, utilizing her martial arts expertise to assist numerous actors. Currently, Sophia holds the position of President of the United Stuntwomen's Association.
