Stacy Harris, a talented actor, is widely recognized for his numerous roles alongside Jack Webb in the iconic television series Dragnet, as well as in other Webb-produced shows. Harris and Webb shared a close friendship, with Webb even naming one of his daughters Stacy in honor of his dear friend.
Born on July 26, 1918, in Seattle, Washington, Harris began his acting career in radio, playing the role of FBI agent Jim Taylor in ABC Radio's "This is Your FBI" from 1945 to 1953. He appeared in an impressive 409 episodes, solidifying his reputation as a skilled radio actor.
Harris made his film debut in the 1950 movie "Appointment with Danger," which co-starred Jack Webb. He went on to appear in five episodes of the original Dragnet series, which aired from 1951 to 1954, and also played the main villain in the 1954 feature film adaptation. In addition, Harris appeared eight times in the second Dragnet series, which aired from 1967 to 1970, notable for his portrayal of the fake forest ranger Clifford Ray Owens, alias Barney Regal.
Throughout his career, Harris had recurring roles in two TV series, "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp" (1955) and "O'Hara, U.S. Treasury" (1971),the latter of which was created by Jack Webb. In total, Harris appeared in hundreds of TV and movie roles between 1951 and 1972. His final role was in the low-budget political thriller "Noon Sunday" (1970),which was released two years after his passing.
Sadly, Stacy Harris passed away on March 13, 1973, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 54, due to an apparent heart attack.
