Biography

Stanley Dyrector, a multifaceted individual, was born in the vibrant city of Brooklyn, New York.

After serving in the US Navy, he relocated to Los Angeles, California, with the ambition to become a renowned movie star.

Utilizing the GI Bill, he pursued acting studies, honing his craft through performances in various plays.

His impressive television credits include co-starring roles in popular shows, one of which featured him alongside Academy Award winner Lee Marvin in an episode of "M Squad".

Stanley acted under the pseudonyms Mark Douglas and Marcus Dyrector before eventually opting to use his genuine birth name.

As a young man, he transitioned to writing for television and theatre, with credits including "Wagon Train" and "Slattery's People".

Stanley met and married his wife, Joyce, and together they collaborated on daytime TV soaps for ABC, as well as hour-long radio dramas and comedies for Sears Radio Theatre and Mutual Radio Theatre.

In his earlier years, Stan penned a two-act Vietnam-era play called "A Pelican of the Wilderness", which garnered praise from Los Angeles Times critic John Mahoney, who deemed it "Outstanding".

His award-winning interview show, "The Stanley Dyrector Show", can be seen on the City of Los Angeles' Channel 36.

Stan and Joyce co-authored a play called "Marilyn and Phil", based on the true story of Marilyn Monroe and a friend of theirs.

Stan's plays, including "My Night with Barbara Payton", which is also based on a true story, were performed at the Writers Guild of America West's multipurpose room.

Another of Stan's plays, "The Other JFK", is based on a true event from his own life and will be published by One Act Play Depot (OAPD).

His book, "Shedding Light on the Hollywood Blacklist: Conversations with Participants", is published by BearManor Media.

Stan will be conducting book signings in the near future at Skylight Books on Vermont and Chevalier Books in Larchmont Village.

Stan's one-act plays, "Senior Kiss" and "Ira and Max", were performed at Theatre 40, starring Ed Asner in both roles.
