Sue's academic journey began at Birmingham University, where she pursued a dual degree in English and Drama. It was during her time at the university that she had the opportunity to cross paths with the renowned Victoria Wood, with whom she would go on to collaborate on numerous occasions throughout her career.
Their collaborations included appearances in various productions, such as "Happy Since I Met You" (1981),"Housewife, 49" (2005),"dinnerladies" (1998),"Pat and Margaret" (1994),and "Victoria Wood: As Seen on TV" (1985),showcasing Sue's versatility as an actress by taking on diverse roles.
Initially, Sue pursued a career in teaching, but she soon transitioned to the world of television and theater, commencing her long-standing career in the early 1980s. Her extensive repertoire includes notable appearances in shows like "Juliet Bravo," "Bergerac," "Making Out," "The Bill," "Common as Muck," "Heartbeat," and "Doctors."
Sue's remarkable career has also included two notable appearances in the esteemed British soap opera "Coronation Street" (1960). Her first stint was in August 1980, where she portrayed the character of Mrs. Fletcher, a neglectful mother. Twenty-five years later, in March 2005, Sue returned to the show, taking on the role of Jean Harris, the grieving mother of the recently murdered Tommy Harris.
