Susan Stryker is a highly acclaimed scholar and filmmaker whose pathbreaking research, theoretical writings, and creative pursuits have had a profound and lasting impact on the cultural conversation surrounding transgender issues since the early 1990s.
Dr. Stryker's academic journey began with the successful completion of her Ph.D. in United States History from the University of California-Berkeley in 1992.
Following the completion of her doctorate, she secured a prestigious Ford Foundation/Social Science Research Council post-doctoral fellowship in sexuality studies at Stanford University.
Before her distinguished visiting faculty position at Yale University from 2019-2020, Dr. Stryker held esteemed visiting faculty appointments at Harvard University, Northwestern University, Johns Hopkins University, University of California-Santa Cruz, Macquarie University in Sydney, and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.
