Susie Labry, affectionately known as the "Louisiana Sunshine" and a woman of many hats, was born on December 31st, 1953, at Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. As one of ten children, she was raised in the vibrant city of New Orleans and later graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government.
Throughout her life, Susie has been a jack-of-all-trades, working in various fields including clerical, entertainment, music, and politics. She has held positions in political campaigns, served as a page at the legislature, and even volunteered as a citizen advocate, making a significant impact on various campaigns, community activities, and church work.
In addition to her work behind the scenes, Susie has also had a successful career in front of the camera, appearing in over 370 projects in feature films, television, independent and indigenous films, class films, contests, and live plays. She has also served as a casting assistant and production assistant, playing a crucial role in attracting and retaining film projects in Louisiana and advocating for the enhancement of film industry tax credits at the Legislature and Governor's office.
Susie's talents extend beyond acting, as she is also a skilled singer, instrumentalist, and background vocalist, having recorded in a few releases. She has also been appointed and run for various offices, serving on state and party positions, as well as party Executive Committees.
A people person at heart, Susie loves meeting and relating to individuals from all walks of life, building relationships, and networking. She has volunteered in community activities, festivals, conventions, Louisiana collections, and LaCAN Developmental Disabilities, advocating for causes such as Aspergers/Autism and Genealogy/Family History.
Susie has played a significant role in building up the Louisiana Film Industry, spearheading a massive grassroots effort to bring in, boost, and save the state's film and music industry and their tax credits. She has built alliances through film groups, social media film groups, unions, and trade organizations, always seeking needs and solutions to fulfill and problems to solve in the fields of entertainment, community, and politics.
