Todd Rafael Cimino, born on June 4th, 1963, in Wayne, New Jersey, grew up in the picturesque Key Largo, Florida, in the Florida Keys. He navigated his way through college by managing a South Florida performance boat building shop, ultimately earning a Master's Degree in Naval Architecture in the early 1980s.
As the marine coordinator for the 1983 film "Spring Break," Cimino caught the attention of renowned Showrunner John Nicolella, who subsequently hired him as the Marine Director for the iconic 1980s television series "Miami Vice." He remained in this role until the show concluded in 1990.
In the 1990s, Cimino attended Georgetown University, where he earned a Juris Doctorate. Following a six-year stint working with Federal Law Enforcement, he re-entered the entertainment industry as a writer-intern on Sofia Coppola's film "Lost in Translation." This marked the beginning of a successful career in film and television, with various projects forthcoming.
In 2015, Cimino was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, serving as a Jurist for the Emmys. In 2020, he collaborated with Oscar-winning actor-turned-writer Cuba Gooding, Jr. to develop a slate of projects.
As the son of the late Peter Cimino and nephew of the late Writer/Director Michael Cimino, Todd Rafael Cimino is a talented individual with a rich family legacy. He currently resides in the Lake Norman area of North Carolina with his wife, Svetlina Kiryakova.
