Person Biography:
Tanya is a first-generation Caribbean American actress and producer born and raised in the Bronx, New York. She started her performing arts journey at the age of 5 with classical piano lessons, ballet, and tap. Tanya's love for the stage was ignited, and she never looked back.
She took her first drama class in high school, catching the acting bug, and received the coveted "Drama Award" at her graduation. This gave her the confidence to pursue a career in film.
Tanya's early start in the industry included a background role in the FOX hit TV series "NY Undercover". Although she was encouraged to take a more traditional career path, Tanya knew she wanted to act full-time.
She took a step away from the spotlight to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Berkeley College. This degree helped her land a job as an Accounting Manager at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, where she worked her way up to Director of Finance and Director of Special Events. Tanya is the first African American woman to be promoted to a Director title at the Daytime Emmy Awards.
After working at the Emmys, Tanya decided to take her career in her own hands and pursue acting full-time. She has since appeared in various TV shows and films, including "New Amsterdam" on NBC, "The Sinner" on the USA Network, "That Damn Michael Che" on HBO Max, and "Paper Spiders" in select theaters and on digital platforms.
Tanya has received numerous awards and recognition for her work, including the 2016 "Best Actress in a Supporting Role" Winner of the Nollywood African & Film Critics Awards, the 2016 "Movie Actress of the Year" award at the Newsome Awards, and the 2016 "Recognition Award" at the Piton International Film Festival.
