Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Teairra Mari was nurtured by her paternal parents to pursue a singing career from a young age. Big Mike, Ed K, and Helluvah of Detroit's K.I.S.S. Productions took her under their wing, training her for the next several years to hone her craft.
