Teddy Smith's life journey began on March 11, 1977, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, where he was born as the youngest of three siblings. Even before completing high school, around the age of 15, Smith's creative passion for filmmaking led him to enroll in a TV production class, where he started producing short films and music videos.
After graduating from high school, Smith packed his bags and headed to Hollywood, where he began working as a production assistant at Todd-AO and Universal Studios. Although his time in Hollywood was brief, he soon returned to his hometown, where he continued to hone his filmmaking skills by making short films, writing scripts, and working as a freelance photographer and editor.
Fast forward to 2010, when Smith's short film "Closed for Storm" suddenly became a viral sensation. The film's haunting portrayal of desolation caught the attention of renowned film critic Roger Ebert, who praised it as "a tour of desolation. Haunting."
In 2013, actor and director Ty Hodges handpicked Smith as his cinematographer for his film A Girl Like Grace, which was released in 2015. Smith's subsequent directorial debut, A Gift Horse, premiered in 2015 and earned the prestigious Dove Seal award for family-friendly films. The following year, he directed A Race to Redemption, another critically acclaimed film.
