Tessa Hope Slovis is a multifaceted individual with a rich background in both acting and filmmaking. Born with Argentinean and Jewish heritage, she grew up in Montclair, New Jersey, and later attended Barnard College at Columbia University, where she earned a dual degree in Theatre and Anthropology.
As an actor, Slovis has had a successful career, appearing on stage both off-Broadway and regionally. Her credits include performances at the Robert Moss Theater, The Flea, Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theater, Berkshire Theater Group, and The Echo Theater Company.
In addition to her stage work, Slovis has also made a name for herself on television. She recurred as Laura Eames on season 18 of the popular medical drama Grey's Anatomy, showcasing her impressive range as a sharp-tongued and complex character.
As a filmmaker, Slovis has directed several short films, including Pizza Party, a dark and witty re-imagining of the night before the Larry Nassar trials began. Pizza Party has attended 21 Academy Qualifying and International Film Festivals, earning a special jury mention at the Ashland Film Festival. Her upcoming film, Falsies, is set to make its festival debut in 2023.
Slovis holds an MFA in Acting from the USC School of Dramatic Arts, which she earned in 2019. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at USC, teaching filmmaking for actors. With her bi-coastal lifestyle, Slovis splits her time between Los Angeles and New York, where she continues to work on new projects and pursue her passions.
