Thanasis Neofotistos is a multifaceted individual, occupying the roles of Film Director, Writer, and Architect. His impressive credentials include being a Member of the European Film Academy (EFA),a Berlinale Talents alumnus, and the Head Programmer of the Student International Competition of the Drama International Short Film Festival.
Throughout his career, Neofotistos' short films have garnered significant recognition, premiering at prestigious festivals such as the 75th Venice International Film Festival, the 75th Locarno International Film Festival, and the 44th Toronto International Film Festival. His films have also won numerous awards, including accolades at the 42nd Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival, the 47th Toronto International Film Festival, and the 36th Busan International Film Festival, among others.
Neofotistos' most recent short film, "Airhostes-737" (16', 2022),had its world premiere at the 75th Locarno Film Festival and received an Honourable Mention at the 47th TIFF Toronto. His previous short film, "Patision Avenue" (13', 2018),premiered at the 75th Venice Film Festival and went on to win three awards at the 41st Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival (Jury, Canal+, EFA) in 2019. The film also became a 2019 Festival-Hit, selected for over 100 film festivals.
Other notable short films by Neofotistos include "Route-3," which world-premiered at the 44th TIFF Toronto in 2019 and later screened at the 42nd Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival in 2020. "Greek School Prayer" (20', 2014) was his successful thesis, earning the Best Greek Short Film of 2014 award at over 50 international film festivals.
Neofotistos has also explored the realm of LGBTQI+ cinema, premiering his short film "Sparkling Candles" (9', 2019) at the legendary 43rd Frameline International Film Festival. Currently, he is in the pre-production stage of his debut feature film, "The Boy with the Light-Blue Eyes" (aka "Peter and the Wolf"),a personal coming-of-age Greek tragedy that promises to be a poignant and impactful cinematic experience.
