Thea Camara has been professionally acting for over a decade, since pursuing her lifelong dream in 2008. With a decade of experience, she has dominated a wide range of roles, from one-liners to full-blown monologues, showcasing her versatility in the entertainment industry.
Early on, Thea's passion for acting was met with encouragement, as she trained under renowned instructors such as Tasha Smith, Ivana Chubbuck, and Susan Batson. She honed her craft at Acting Studio Chicago, where she worked with award-winning actor/director Jerry Kernion, and also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater from Concordia University.
Throughout her career, Thea has appeared in numerous film and television shows, including productions on Amazon, Netflix, AllBlk, and Tubi. Some of her most notable roles include "Vanessa Hubbard" on Fox's 9-1-1, starring Angela Bassett and Aisha Hinds, as well as a recurring role as "Irma Dunn" on Dick Wolf's Chicago Med, starring S. Epatha Merkerson and Yaya DaCosta.
Thea has also worked under the direction of acclaimed filmmakers such as Spike Lee, Andrew Dominik, and Christopher Nolen, in projects such as Sound To Sea, Hood, Before I Do, and Englewood. Her dedication to her craft has earned her a reputation as one of the most sought-after actresses in the industry.
Outside of her acting career, Thea is an avid world traveler, having visited several countries, including a recent trip to Senegal, West Africa. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her loving family, including her husband of over twenty-five years, her daughter Adja, who attends Spelman University, and her son Kader, who attends Benedictine University.
