Tii Ricks was born in the German city of Bad Hersfeld, situated on a United States Army base, to a Finnish mother and an American father. This unique cultural blend would later influence her work in the film industry.
As a child, Tii's family relocated from Germany to New York, settling in Brooklyn, directly beside the iconic Verrazano-Narrows bridge within the Fort Hamilton Army base. She attended public school 104, where she learned the ins and outs of American culture and way of life.
Tragedy struck when Tii's father, a US Army Officer, passed away, and the family was forced to move back to Finland. However, this setback did not deter Tii from pursuing her passion for filmmaking.
Tii has since established herself as a successful film editor in Europe, directing and editing numerous television programs, short feature films, documentaries, and music videos. Her impressive body of work has earned her several awards and accolades.
In 2009, Tii's first feature film, 'Better Than Andy', was released worldwide, marking a significant milestone in her career. Her subsequent feature film, Rage: Midsummer's Eve, was shot in Finland, near the Arctic Circle, and premiered in 2015.
Tii draws inspiration from classic horror films, such as Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street, which she would sneakily watch as a child behind her parents' backs at the tender age of five. Horror films have remained her greatest passion, and she continues to be driven by a deep love for the genre.
