Tim's formative years were spent in a rustic log cabin in Oakham, Massachusetts, where he developed a profound appreciation for the great outdoors, courtesy of his father, Dale Francis Smith, a seasoned outdoorsman. This early exposure to hunting, fishing, and other wilderness activities laid the foundation for his lifelong passion for the natural world.
In addition to his outdoor pursuits, Tim also developed a strong interest in martial arts, ultimately earning a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from renowned instructor Alex Costa of Gracie Barra Back Bay in Boston, Massachusetts. He continues to hone his skills under the guidance of Alan Teo of Renzo Gracie BJJ.
Tim's entry into the world of acting was largely driven by his high school romance with Erin, who inspired him to explore his creative side. Although he dabbled in acting during his college years, it wasn't until after graduating from Saint Anselm's College with a degree in philosophy and biology that he truly began to experiment with his craft.
Despite struggling academically, Tim's biology mentor, the late Professor Barbara J Stahl, sensed his potential and encouraged him to pursue a career in acting. This advice ultimately led him to New York City, where he landed a role in Worcester Forum Theatre's production of West Side Story, earning a brief appearance on 60 Minutes.
The director of that production, Brian Tivnan, played a significant role in Tim's subsequent career, helping him secure a spot in graduate school at Trinity Rep (also known as The Consortium). From there, Tim went on to perform in a variety of musicals and plays across the country, spending a decade in Boston working with talented individuals and organizations.
Today, Tim resides in scenic West New York, New Jersey, a charming town that shares its name with its more famous neighbor, but is, in fact, a distinct municipality.
