Tom DeSimone, a multifaceted writer and director, was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a city renowned for its academic excellence. He pursued his passion for directing at Emerson College in Boston, earning a Bachelor's Degree in the field before heading to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to acquire a Master's Degree in Motion Picture production.
Following his academic success, Tom ventured into the film industry, working briefly as a Post Production Supervisor at Bosustow Productions in West Los Angeles. He then seized the opportunity to form his own production company, catering to the burgeoning adult film market, which led to a lucrative career in the industry.
Tom's crossover film, CHATTERBOX, a cult musical sexcapade released by American International, marked his transition from the adult film world to mainstream Hollywood features. This milestone was followed by a string of successful films, including the horror feature HELL NIGHT, starring Linda Blair, and the send-up of women's prison films, REFORM SCHOOL GIRLS, starring Wendy O Williams, both of which remain genre classics.
The Concrete Jungle and ANGEL III: THE FINAL CHAPTER, produced by New World Pictures, further solidified Tom's reputation as a cult film director. His subsequent move to television, facilitated by his signing with Creative Artist's Agency, led to a successful career in directing episodic television for various production studios and networks, including Lorimar, Warner Bros, MGM Television, CBS Television, and USA Network.
In a fascinating turn of events, Tom spent a year in Mexico City, directing all 120 episodes of the Telenova, ACAPULCO BAY, for Televisa Studios. His impressive body of work has garnered numerous awards, including a Golden Eagle award/Cine Film Festival for his short film, WOODEN LULLABY; a UCLA Film School scholarship for his film, THE GAME; and a Lifetime Achievement award in the 2005 Gayvn Hall of Fame.
Today, Tom resides in Palm Springs, California, where he continues to be an influential figure in the film industry.
