Tom Kane's illustrious career in voiceover work began at the tender age of 15 in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. By the time he graduated from college, he had amassed a significant portfolio of commercials, totaling several hundred, which paved the way for his subsequent relocation to Hollywood.
In Hollywood, Tom's career gained momentum, and he started landing a wide range of projects, including movie trailers, network promos, games, feature films, and cartoons. His early work included notable projects such as Disney's Prince Valiant, Iron Man, Star Wars, The Wild Thornberrys, The Powerpuff Girls, and Kim Possible, among many others.
Tom is perhaps most renowned for his iconic voice roles in Lucasfilm/Disney feature films and TV series, including Jedi Master Yoda, Admiral Ackbar, Admiral Yularen, the Opening Narrator, Qui Gon Jin, and others in The Last Jedi, Rogue One, The Force Awakens, Solo, Clone Wars, Rebels, Droid Tales, Lego Star Wars, and Robot Chicken Star Wars.
In addition to his character voices, Tom is also a prolific "regular announcer" voiceover artist, providing voices for TV commercials, movie trailers, and network promos for prominent brands such as Disney, Pixar, CBS, Dr. Pepper, Sony, Scrubbing Bubbles, FOX, Hotwire, Showtime, Dreamworks, Walmart, Universal, Netflix, Nintendo, Propel, McDonald's, Kellogg's, Nickelodeon, and many more.
Throughout his career, Tom has also had starring and special guest roles in various animated series, including Archer, Family Guy, The Powerpuff Girls, Scooby Doo, Shrek 3, Robot Chicken, Kim Possible, The Avengers, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Iron Man, The Wild Thornberrys, Wolverine and the X-Men, and dozens of other shows spanning 25 years.
In the realm of video games, Tom has provided voices for numerous characters, including Leviathan and Lok in Fortnite, a dozen major characters in almost every Star Wars game ever made, Takeo in Call of Duty, Commissioner Gordon, Quincy Sharp, and Amadeus Arkham in Batman, Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, Professor Xavier and Magneto in the X-Men, Ondore in Final Fantasy, and many, many more.
One of Tom's lesser-known areas of expertise is voice-doubling. When celebrities are unavailable to record their post-production, testing, or trailer dialogue, Tom steps in to fill the gap, having worked with A-Listers such as Morgan Freeman, Anthony Hopkins, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Liam Neeson, and others.
Tom has also had the distinction of serving as the announcer for three AFI Lifetime Achievement Award broadcasts and has announced the 78th, 80th, 83rd, 84th, and 90th Academy Awards broadcasts on ABC.
