Lester, a man of humble beginnings, was born in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi, where he spent his formative years on his grandfather's farm, engaging in a variety of activities that would shape his future, including shucking corn, fishing, hunting, and picking cotton. He went on to pursue higher education at the University of Mississippi, where he majored in Chemistry, laying the foundation for a career in science.
After completing his studies, Lester embarked on a teaching career, instructing science and biology at a school in Purcell, Oklahoma, before making the cross-country move to California. He divided his time between the sun-kissed state and his hometown of Laurel, Mississippi, maintaining strong ties to his roots.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Lester was deeply committed to his faith, frequently sharing his beliefs with youth groups and at religious gatherings. His passion for spreading the word of God led him to share the stage not once, not twice, but three times with the renowned evangelist Billy Graham.
Lester's life came full circle on a somber note in 2020, when he passed away at the ripe age of 81, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by his loved ones. His wife, brother, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews mourned his loss, remembering the countless memories they shared with him.
