Tom McGrath, a renowned filmmaker, has spent over three decades in the entertainment industry, leaving an indelible mark on the world of animation. As a director, McGrath has garnered numerous accolades, including an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination for his work on The Boss Baby, a film that has grossed over $2.7 billion worldwide.
McGrath's impressive repertoire includes directing, co-writing, and voicing the lead character, Skipper, in the Madagascar franchise. He reprised his roles in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, cementing his status as a master of animation. Additionally, McGrath voiced Skipper for the Penguins of Madagascar TV show on Nickelodeon, as well as the short films The Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper, Merry Madagascar, and Madagascar.
In his illustrious career, McGrath has also starred in and executive produced DreamWorks Animation's Penguins of Madagascar and directed the 2010 blockbuster, Megamind. Prior to joining DreamWorks Animation in 2000, McGrath worked as a story artist and concept design artist on feature films such as Cats & Dogs and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. His impressive portfolio also includes work as an animator and story artist on animated films like Space Jam and Cool World.
Before making a name for himself in the entertainment industry, McGrath honed his skills at the University of Washington, where he studied industrial design. He later graduated from the character animation program at Cal Arts, setting the stage for his future success.
