Tommy's life story is deeply rooted in the vibrant city of Memphis, Tennessee, where the soulful rhythms of the Blues and the tantalizing aromas of world-class barbecue fill the air. Growing up in this eclectic environment, farming played a significant role in his formative years, instilling a sense of down-to-earth humility that has remained with him throughout his life.
However, Memphis also played a pivotal role in shaping Tommy's passion for social justice, particularly during his formative years when the city was gripped by a sanitation worker's strike. This tumultuous period, which ultimately culminated in the tragic assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968, had a profound impact on Tommy's worldview and sense of purpose.
As he transitioned into adulthood, Tommy discovered his true calling in the world of acting, initially igniting his passion while attending the University of Memphis. This artistic outlet eventually led him to Hollywood, where he has accumulated an impressive array of stage, television, and film credits, as well as honing his craft through training with esteemed institutions such as Stella Adler and Second City.
Despite his many professional accomplishments, Tommy's heart remains deeply committed to a cause that is very close to his own experience: ending homelessness. Having briefly faced homelessness himself, he has dedicated himself to volunteering at the Midnight Mission on skid row and working alongside homeless writers and actors over the past two decades. Together, he believes that we can and must work towards a future where no one has to face the harsh realities of homelessness.
