Biography

Urna Batmunkh, a gifted musician, hails from a family of herders residing in the expansive and breathtakingly beautiful grasslands of the Ordos Plateau, located within the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia, where the melodic sounds of song are an integral component of daily life. From a very young age, Urna's musical odyssey commenced with the meticulous study of the yangqin, a traditional Chinese dulcimer, under the expert tutelage of a distinguished professor from the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory of Music, who was temporarily stationed in Hohhot, the capital city of Inner Mongolia. This early introduction to music served as the foundation for her subsequent achievements and success.

Urna, a young and ambitious individual, made the life-changing decision to dedicate herself to the world of music by relocating to the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory at the tender age of 18.

This courageous move, however, was not without its challenges, as Urna was faced with the daunting task of navigating the intricacies of the Chinese language, a tongue that was entirely foreign to her.

Undeterred by these obstacles, Urna demonstrated remarkable resilience and perseverance, continuing to refine her musical skills and talents despite the difficulties she encountered.

As she grew in experience and expertise, Urna's dedication and passion for music eventually propelled her to the status of a world-renowned performer, a testament to her unwavering commitment to her craft.

Urna's extraordinary gift has enabled her to traverse the world, captivating diverse crowds with her singular talent. Her artistic pursuits are split between two distinct locations: Bavaria, Germany, and Cairo, Egypt. This dichotomy affords her the opportunity to draw inspiration from a wide range of cultural influences, fostering a rich tapestry of creative expression.

Throughout her remarkable career, Urna has garnered widespread recognition, earning a multitude of prestigious accolades. Among her most notable achievements is the esteemed RUTH prize in Germany, bestowed upon her in 2003 for her outstanding contributions as an international artist.
