Valeria Moriconi was born in Jesi, a charming town situated in the heart of Italy's Marche region. Her early start in the art world was marked by her involvement with a local art company, but it was her subsequent roles in films such as "Gli Italiani si voltano" and "La Spiaggia" that truly brought her success.
Her outstanding performance in the movie "Le soldatesse" earned her the prestigious Golden Grolla award, a testament to her exceptional talent. Throughout her illustrious career, Moriconi had the opportunity to perform on stage in numerous theatrical plays at the renowned Arlecchino Theater, now known as Flaiano, where she brought to life iconic characters in productions such as Schnitzler's "Girotondo" and Patti's "Per un amore a Roma", as well as Testori's "Arialda", directed by the esteemed Visconti.
In the 1960s, Moriconi met the renowned director Franco Enriquez, and their professional collaboration led to a romantic affair, which ultimately ended her marriage to Aldo Moriconi. After Enriquez's passing, she found love again with Vittorio Spiga, a journalist from Bologna, and he remained by her side until her untimely death.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the world of art, the President of the Italian Republic, Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, bestowed upon her the prestigious title of Great Master of the Republic. Moriconi's voice was also featured in Papa's comments during Via Crucis in 2000, and in 1999, she received the Renato Simoni award.
Despite her illness, Moriconi continued to work tirelessly until the end of her life, and even though she was forced to interrupt her theater tour with Ibsen's "Gli Spettri" on June 7th, 2005, her legacy continues to inspire and influence generations of artists to come.
