Vee Kumari, a talented individual, made a significant impact with her short film HALWA, which received the prestigious 2019 APAV award from HBO. As the executive producer and lead, Kumari's hard work and dedication paid off, as the film played at over 50 film festivals and garnered several accolades.
In addition to her work in film, Kumari has also made a name for herself in television, appearing as a co-star in popular shows such as GLOW, Anger Management, Teachers, and Criminal Minds, among others.
Prior to her career in the entertainment industry, Kumari spent over three decades as a neuroanatomy professor, a neuroscience researcher, and, for ten years, as an Associate Dean for Medical Education at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. During this period, she received numerous teaching awards.
In 2008, Kumari made the decision to relocate to Los Angeles to be closer to her daughters and grandsons, and she went on to teach at USC Keck School of Medicine for five years. After retiring in 2012, she pursued a career in acting and writing, a decision she calls "a journey from the left side of my brain to the right".
Kumari is a proud mother of two daughters, Suju Vijayan, a film and TV writer/director/producer, and Shalini Vijayan, a violinist. She is also a grandmother to two grandsons, Ashok and Rohan.
