Victor Talmadge is a multifaceted artist, boasting a triumvirate of talents as an actor, director, and playwright. His academic background is marked by a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in 1977, followed by a Master of Fine Arts degree from the California Institute of the Arts in 1980.
Over the course of his decade-long tenure in New York, Talmadge was involved in a plethora of activities, extending far beyond his extensive acting credits in off-Broadway and regional productions of both modern and classic pieces. He collaborated with renowned playwrights such as Robert Schenken, Jeff Jones, and Shelby Brammer on innovative new projects.
Talmadge co-founded and served as Literary Director for the esteemed Empire Stage Players, a New York theater company that garnered numerous awards during his tenure. During this period, his one-act play, Kiss Goodbye the Howling Beast, was a finalist at the prestigious Actors Theatre of Louisville Short Play Competition.
In addition to his creative pursuits, Talmadge has also shared his expertise as a teacher, instructing playwriting at Johns Hopkins University and serving as Adjunct Assistant Professor of English at the City University of New York.
Talmadge has recently completed The Gate of Heaven, a poignant play about a 442nd Japanese American soldier who liberates a Jewish prisoner from Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany during World War II, in collaboration with Bay Area playwright and actor Lane Nishikawa.
Throughout his career, Talmadge has graced the stages of esteemed institutions such as Berkeley Repertory Theatre, American Conservatory Theatre, and the Magic Theatre in San Francisco. His directorial credits include work at the Bay Area Playwrights Festival, and he has also made guest appearances in a variety of television and film projects.
