Vivieno Caldinelli is a renowned Canadian director who has successfully infused his childhood fascinations, phobias, and unique comedic perspective into his work, ultimately earning him a reputation as an award-winning director.
Last summer, Vivieno brought his distinct vision to the dark comedy feature film, SEVEN STAGES, which boasts an impressive cast including Kate Miccuci, Sam Huntington, Dan Harmon, Mark McKinney, Maria Bamford, Dana Gould, Jon Dore, Rhea Seahorn, and Taika Waititi. The film premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and was produced by Company X, consisting of Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah, and Josh C. Waller, and MarVista Entertainment.
Prior to SEVEN STAGES, Vivieno was responsible for the direction of four films, including the award-winning horror-comedy hit PORTAL TO HELL!!!, starring the late great Roddy Piper, as well as the MacDonald Hall Trilogy of feature films: GO JUMP IN THE POOL, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL, and THE WIZZLE WAR. The trilogy premiered on Netflix in 2017.
Recently, Vivieno wrapped up his work as a director on episodes of BARONESS VON SKETCH season 5, which aired on CBC and IFC in Toronto. Prior to that, he served as director and executive producer on the half-hour sketch comedy pilot HUMANTOWN for CBC, and he directed the epic 2-part episode of the Emmy Award-winning series ODD SQUAD, featuring The Kids In The Hall.
Most notably, Vivieno has been the director of the last four seasons of the beloved Canadian comedy institution THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES, which has thrived on prime-time Canadian television for an incredible 25 consecutive years.
In the years prior, Vivieno worked as a producer and director on Canadian television sketch-comedy cult hits HOTBOX and PICNICFACE, both of which were executive produced by Mark McKinney. Both shows continue to find loyal new audiences on Hulu, CraveTV (Canada),and possibly even the Pirate Bay.
