Biography

Walter Williamson's passion for acting began in his earliest childhood, a flame that would burn brightly throughout his life. During his teenage years in Richmond, Virginia, he was an integral part of the local theater scene, acting, writing, designing, and directing for numerous community theaters.

As he entered adulthood, Williamson pursued formal studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was mentored by the esteemed Robert John Versteeg at Louisburg College in North Carolina. This guidance proved invaluable, as Williamson was soon tapped by renowned director Joe Layton to play the role of Gov. White in the long-running Paul Green outdoor drama, The Lost Colony.

Williamson's time in North Carolina was marked by the founding of the annual Elizabethan Festival, an event that allowed him to showcase his talents on a grand scale. He then took his skills to London, where he was selected as an international finalist for The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Upon his return to the United States, Williamson embarked on a series of jobs in dinner theaters, stock companies, and repertory companies across the east coast. His first Equity assignment was with the esteemed Barter Theater in Abingdon, Virginia, followed by long-term associations with The Flat Rock Playhouse and The Virginia Museum Theater.

New York City eventually called, and Williamson answered, working tirelessly in Off-Broadway and touring productions for several years. During this time, his long-standing interest in writing began to surface, and he went on to produce four books directed at young readers about theater and other subjects, as well as several plays.

In the early 1990s, Williamson made the move to Los Angeles, where he landed several assignments with Adam Sandler and numerous other roles. Today, he divides his time between acting and writing, and has recently sold his first screenplay.

A single father, Williamson is proud of his daughter, who recently graduated from college. Despite the ups and downs of his career, Williamson remains committed to his craft, always striving to bring new and exciting stories to life on stage and screen.
