William DeMeo is a multifaceted artist with a rich background in the entertainment industry. Born and raised in the Gravesend and Bensonhurst sections of Brooklyn, he grew up on West Street, which would later become the name of his production company, West Street Productions.
DeMeo's early start in the industry began with his first film, A Bronx Tale (1993),where he was initially intended to be an extra but ended up with a few lines. This early experience would lay the foundation for his future endeavors.
As a producer, DeMeo's first notable accomplishment was the independent feature film One Deadly Road (1998),which he wrote, produced, and starred in. The film was released overseas, aired on pay-per-view television, and distributed nationally on home video.
DeMeo's subsequent projects included writing, producing, co-directing, and starring in the feature film Wannabes (2000). The film was picked up by Artisan Entertainment and received a theatrical release before being distributed on home video and DVD. DeMeo won the Best Actor Award for his performance in Wannabes at the New York Independent International Film Festival, where the film also took home awards for Best Director and Best Supporting Actor.
DeMeo's next film, Searching for Bobby D (2005),was a comedic adventure that he produced, co-wrote the screenplay for, and starred in alongside Carmen Electra, Sandra Bernhard, Mario Cantone, Tyson Beckford, Tony Darrow, and other notable actors. The film won numerous awards at film festivals internationally and was picked up for DVD distribution by Monarch Entertainment.
In addition to his work as a producer, DeMeo has also appeared in numerous feature films, television shows, and mini-series. He has played roles in films such as Boss of Bosses (2001),Analyze That (2002),Hackers (1995),and I Am Woody (2003),as well as appearing in The Sopranos (1999) and guest-starring in Blue Bloods and Person Of Interest.
DeMeo has also led roles in films such as Once Upon A Time in Brooklyn and Back In The Day, which featured notable casts including Alec Baldwin, Danny Glover, and Armand Assante. He has also played the lead role of Sammy The Bull in the Gotti Movie alongside John Travolta and appeared in First Kill alongside Bruce Willis and Hayden Christensen.
DeMeo is currently working on the new series Gravesend, which he has developed, written, and directed four episodes of. The show is set to premiere in the first quarter of 2020 and features DeMeo in the lead role of Benny Zerltta.
