Biography

Noted thespian, Handman, embarked on an acting journey at the esteemed Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater in New York City, cultivating his craft in the city that never sleeps.

In 1963, alongside Sidney Lanier and Michael Tolan, he co-founded The American Place Theatre, where he would later assume the role of Artistic Director.

As a visionary director, Handman played a pivotal role in introducing the work of numerous American playwrights to the stage, including the groundbreaking Sam Shepard.
