Jytte Stensgaard, a former au pair and model, made the bold decision to emigrate to the United Kingdom in 1963, driven by her ambitious dreams of achieving an illustrious international film career.
In an effort to simplify her name for international recognition, she opted to change it to the more pronounceable "Yutte" Stensgaard. Interestingly, her film debut did not occur in a British production, but rather in the Italian movie "The Girl with a Pistol" (1968),which had some British backing. This marked the beginning of her extensive career in various British films, primarily within the comedy and horror genres, with a notable role as the lead in "Lust for a Vampire" (1971) and several television guest appearances.
Yutte Stensgaard also had the unique opportunity to co-host a game show with the renowned British comedian, Bob Monkhouse, for a six-month period. Despite facing challenges with myopic casting directors who failed to recognize her beauty and emerging talent, preferring instead to cast more established yet less beautiful actresses, Yutte eventually gave up on her film aspirations and relocated to the United States in the mid-1970s.
She found employment selling airtime for a Christian radio station in Oregon, a far cry from her former life in the spotlight. As a result, she understandably became reluctant to make appearances at horror conventions, only to relent and start attending a select few in the late 1990s, allowing her dedicated fans to once again bask in her unique radiance.
Yutte Stensgaard was, and remains, an inimitable beauty, a loss to the film industry that is perhaps only rivalled by the tragic passing of Sharon Tate.
