Zane Lamprey is often told he has the greatest job in the world, and it's easy to see why. For the past decade, he has been hosting and producing shows that take him to new and exciting places, where he gets to indulge in his love of travel, drinks, food, and all things awesome.
Zane's latest adventure is CHUG, a show that premiered on National Geographic Channel on November 24th, 10:30 PM. In this show, Zane travels to different regions around the world to discover their drinking cultures and customs by drinking with the locals.
But CHUG is not Zane's first foray into the world of travel and exotic drinks. He previously hosted the popular travel show Three Sheets, which aired for four seasons on networks like Mojo HD, FLN, Travel, and Spike. The show followed Zane as he drank his way through various cities around the world, earning him a legion of fans who continue to support his endeavors.
After Three Sheets ended its run in 2009, Zane decided to bring his drinking adventures back to the United States with his show Drinking Made Easy. This new show focused on exploring the drinking scene in the US and sometimes Canada, and was accompanied by the Drinking Made Easy Comedy Tour, a live comedy show that Zane and his crew performed in their tour bus.
After Drinking Made Easy finished in 2013, Zane was ready to pitch his next show, CHUG. Despite the general consensus that networks were no longer interested in drinking shows, Zane's fans wanted another international drinking show. So Zane decided to give the power back to the people and launched the CHUG Kickstarter in May 2013.
The Kickstarter campaign was a huge success, raising $591,803 in just 45 days, exceeding the goal of $500,000. For the next year, Zane and his team worked to shoot six hour-long episodes set in Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Fiji, Vienna, Rome, and Budapest, and to fulfill backer rewards for the 8,177 backers who funded the project.
In addition to his work on CHUG, Zane also co-hosted National Geographic Channel's Showdown of the Unbeatables, which pitted the world's most advanced technology against their prospective counterparts.
Zane is also passionate about his own rum, Monkey Rum, which he spent three years developing. The rum was launched in New York City in July 2014 and will be expanding nationally throughout 2015.
Today, Zane is working on CHUG and Monkey Rum, while also developing new shows and products. He has also brought back Drinking Made Easy as a tips-and-tricks based web series.
