Zurab Kapanadze, a renowned Georgian actor, was born on April 1, 1937, in the picturesque Nakieti village, located within the Oni district. He would go on to leave an indelible mark on the world of Georgian cinema, earning the esteemed title of People's Artist of Georgia in 1979.
Kapanadze's journey in the world of acting began in 1961, when he graduated from the theatrical faculty of the prestigious Shota Rustaveli State Theater Institute in Tbilisi. Following his graduation, he worked at the Kutaisi Lado Meskhishvili State Drama Theater from 1961 to 1964, honing his craft and gaining valuable experience.
In 1964, Kapanadze joined the "Georgian Film" studio, where he would spend the remainder of his career as a respected and accomplished actor. His dedication to his craft and his contributions to Georgian cinema earned him the Shota Rustaveli State Prize in 1985.
In addition to his work in film, Kapanadze was also an active politician. From 1999 to 2004, he served as a member of the Georgian Parliament's 5th convocation, representing the electoral bloc "Revival of Georgia".
Despite his many achievements and contributions to Georgian society, Kapanadze was prohibited from being buried in the Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures.
