Peter Salem, a former Wall Street executive, returns to his ex-wife's small town in Kansas, only to find that all power is lost, with no electricity or functioning technology. The community is left in the dark, and the town's militant past is reawakened as people form a posse to protect themselves from an unknown threat, led by a local convenience store owner, Mr. Farook.
