In 19th century Paris, a courtesan named Marguerite lives a life of luxury with her wealthy patron, Baron de Varville. When Armand, a young aristocrat, lays eyes on her, he's immediately smitten. However, Marguerite is not easily won over, and it takes time for her to reciprocate his feelings.
