In the desolate town of Trona, near Death Valley, a young meth dealer named Dirk holds power over the nearly empty and polluted community. Ray Tuckby, a naive and unhappy husband with a lazy son, lives in one of the dilapidated houses. When Ray discovers his wife in bed with his brother, his life is turned upside down. He meets Merl, who is building a Chevron station, and Merl inspires Ray to pursue his dreams.
