No One Sleeps background

No One Sleeps

A young East German medical student delves into the mysterious origins of the AIDS virus, driven by a desire to uncover the truth about his father's past.

In the midst of preparations for a new staging of Puccini's opera Turandot in San Francisco, a serial killer is targeting HIV-positive young men, painting their bodies with a red cross. A young gay medical student, Stefan, arrives in the city to investigate his father's death, a former AIDS researcher, and uncovers rumors of secret human experiments in US prisons. As he delves deeper into the case, Stefan becomes entangled in the city's gay club scene and crosses paths with the killer, who is also HIV-positive. The investigation is led by Detective Louise Tolliver, who becomes suspicious of Stefan's involvement and tries to open up new avenues in the case.
