Noelle, a diner waitress, is focused on making a merry Christmas for her preteen son Henry, the first since her divorce. Henry has been acting out due to her and his father's constant fighting, including his father's request to spend Christmas with his new fiancée. Noelle also has a feud with a grumpy neighbor, Mr. Geer, who dislikes Christmas. Meanwhile, Noelle meets Jeremy, a new diner customer, and feels an emotional connection. However, she soon discovers that Jeremy is Mr. Geer and that his aversion to Christmas is due to a traumatic event.
